TRIBUTES have been left at Padgate Station following the tragic death of a teenager.

Police confirmed that an 18-year-old man was hit by a train at the station on Saturday, November 18.

The incident occurred shortly before 1.15pm on Saturday at the railway station.

A large emergency service presence was in attendance at the station.

The railway line was blocked between Manchester Oxford Road and Warrington Central, with trains cancelled and delayed for a number of hours.

In a statement issued this morning, Monday, British Transport Police has confirmed that the casualty was an 18-year-old man.

A spokesman for the force said: “Police were called to Padgate Station at around 1.13pm on Saturday, November 18, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, but sadly a person – an 18-year-old man – was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

A number of flowers, cards, and sports shirts line the pedestrian bridge at Padgate Station following the tragic death of the teenager.

One reads: "You were only here for a short time but you brought love and happiness to everybody.

"You will be missed dearly by all."
