YOUNG athlete Leonard Broadhurst capped a fine race in a special way.

Leonard, who competes with Warrington Athletics Club, finished third in the under 11s age group of the Run Through Alton Towers races at the weekend.

And then he had his photograph taken with his idol, Sir Mo Farah, the most decorated male track distance runner of all time.

Farah achieved ten global championship gold medals, four Olympic and six world titles, before retiring.

He was on hand after Leonard completed Saturday’s kids race in 5mins 52secs, which placed him 16th overall.

The following day, a mother and son represented Warrington AC at the event, with Louise Blizzard winning the over 45 women’s age group of the half marathon.

The time of 1hr 35mins 04secs was good enough for 118th place overall and sixth woman.

Her son Alfie finished 38th in the 5K with 21mins 08secs.
