IT has been revealed when the best time to visit a tip in Warrington is, amid ongoing strikes.

Strike action is under way on behalf of members of the trade union Unite, with workers demanding better pay and working conditions from the council.

It comes following a national dispute between trade unions surrounding pay and conditions of workers across the country - though this dispute is now over.

Despite this, Warrington's refuse collectors have announced a fourth wave of industrial action will see that bins are not routinely collected until at least December 4.

A trade union spokesperson confirmed that the strikes will continue in Warrington due to workers wanting a better local deal - it has also been confirmed that the trade union Unite's membership has grown 'markedly' since the industrial action began.

Amid the ongoing strikes, which began on October 3, residents have had to make regular journeys to tips across the town in order to dispose of their household waste.

Tips have seen their operational hours extended during the strike action in order to cope with increased demand.

Warrington Borough Council has revealed when the best times are to attend tips across the town:

  • 9-10am
  • 3pm onwards

The busiest time for tips at the moment is between 12-2pm, the council added.

Warrington Borough Council added: "We're very grateful for your patience as we continue to support a lot of people using our community recycling centres during the strike period."
