WARRINGTON'S Papa Johns outlet, off Buttermarket Street, has had its food hygiene score updated following an inspection.

The popular pizza chain was inspected by the Food Standards Agency on August 8.

There is a delay between an FSA inspection taking place and the results being made available on the agency's website.

Establishments are inspected by the Food Standards Agency against the following criteria:

  • Hygienic food handling - Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
  • Management of food safety - System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
  • Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building - Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene.

According to the agency, Buttermarket Street's Papa Johns was graded as 'very good' for hygienic food handling, and 'generally satisfactory' for the management of food safety and the cleanliness/condition of facilities and the building.

Following the August inspection, Warrington's branch of Papa Johns was graded as four-out-of-five for food hygiene.
