Young Padgate girl receives letter back from Queen Camilla

After learning about many of the royal events over the last few years at school including the platinum jubilee and the King’s coronation, seven-year-old Elizabeth Vickers grew a fondness for the Royal Family.

This led her to write a letter to King Charles III and Queen Camilla, to thank them for everything they do for the country, and she even included a beautiful drawing.

Unexpectedly last Tuesday, August 29, the St Margaret’s pupil received a warm letter in return from the palace.

Written on the official Clarence House paper, Queen Camilla thanked Elizabeth for her letter and remarked what a ‘talented artist’ she was.

Elizabeth’s mum, Allison Vickers spoke of her extreme pride and recalled her daughter’s excited reaction when the letter came through the post.

“Elizabeth screamed around the house when she received the thank you.

“She honestly was in absolute shock that the royal family were so kind to write her back. She rang all of her family to share the news,” she said.

Allison said the school had played a ‘huge part’ in her daughter’s love for the royals, having put on different activities for the class when royal celebrations have taken place.

“Elizabeth is a huge fan and as she has witnessed the king’s coronation and shares the same name as the great Queen Elizabeth, she was keen to reach out to the king and queen to say that she’s happy they are here for England,” Allison explained.

The Padgate mum added how Elizabeth wanted to share her news far and wide.

“One of the key things that Elizabeth mentioned was how she hopes more children will share nice messages and show others that they love them, and they are grateful.”
