A POPULAR wine bar in Stockton Heath has been given a food hygiene rating of three-out-of-five.

This comes following an inspection undertaken by the Food Standards Agency.

Corks Out, off London Road, received the score following an inspection at the end of July.

There are often delays between an inspection taking place and the results being made available in the public domain - Corks Out's hygiene rating has recently been updated on the Food Standards Agency's website.

The Food Standards Agency grades establishments against the following criteria:

  • Hygienic food handling - Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage
  • Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building - Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene
  • Management of food safety - System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future

Corks Out was graded as 'generally satisfactory' across all of these categories, and was awarded three-out-of-five for hygiene.

Two more establishments were also inspected, with their results being made available recently.

Those eateries are:

  • Zalos Cafe Latchford, Knutsford Road - rated four-out-of-five following an inspection on July 27
  • Star Kebab, Winwick Street - rated three-out-of-five following an inspection on July 27
