AN unauthorised traveller encampment has been established near a nursery in Padgate.

The caravans arrived yesterday, August 31.

According to Cheshire West and Chester County Council, two caravans arrived at the site of Evolution Child Care, off Orange Grove yesterday.

The latest information available suggests that two caravans were sited outside the Jolly Falstaff pub, as well as two caravans outside Evolution Child Care.

However, when the scene was attended by the Warrington Guardian there were only two caravans on the site.

As per the county council's online log for the encampment, police officers are due to attend the site, and will also serve a section 77 notice to any caravans on council land.

The section 77 notice will be served and will give notice that the unauthorised encampment must disperse or face legal action from the council.

This is the latest in a number of unauthorised encampments in Warrington, with pressure mounting on Warrington Borough Council to create a traveller transit site for caravans to pitch up at.

The council set aside £2million to invest in a transit site as early as 2015.

When asked by the Warrington Guardian about updates regarding a transit site, a council spokesperson said: "We are fully committed to the delivery of a suitable transit site within the town and recognise the benefits for both the travelling community and our residents.

“We are continuing to work with our partners to identify a suitable traveller transit site in the borough.”
