SALMON and cucumber finger sandwiches without the crusts followed by dainty bitesize cakes and then freshly baked scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream.

Does that sound like the perfect way to spend an afternoon?

Would you have a hot cup of English breakfast tea to accompany your tasty afternoon tea treats or maybe a glass of sparkling prosecco?

This week is afternoon tea week – August 7 to August 13 - a whole week to celebrate the British tradition.

The treat - between lunch and evening meal - is hugely popular with restaurants, coffee shops and garden centres now offering their own take.

Some might add savoury pastries to the sandwich option while others might offer a slice of homemade cake before the fruit scones.

There are some fantastic places serving afternoon tea in Warrington and we want to know which is your favourite and why they deserve to win our Afternoon Tea of the Year award.

In our Best of 2023 campaign, we’ve given out 16 awards so far in Warrington for hair, nails and beauty, tattoos and independent shops, as well as pizza, dessert and cocktails and many more.

Voting is currently taking place to find Warrington’s Best Beer Garden, with the vote closing at midnight on Monday, August 14.

This week it’s afternoon tea and we want to know where to go for some delicious afternoon treats.

Who will win Warrington’s Best for Afternoon Tea 2023?

Tell us which of the town’s afternoon teas should make our shortlist and then the overall winner will be decided by you, our readers.

HOW IT WORKS:

Each Friday morning we will reveal new categories via our social media pages and ask you who is the best. Nominations will then close each Monday morning at 12pm.

Every Thursday we will publish a shortlist of finalists with voting officially opening.

You will be able to vote in one of three ways:

- By commenting under the relevant post on our Warrington Guardian Facebook or Twitter pages = 1 vote

- By entering via the online article on our Warrington Guardian website = 2 votes

- By entering via our Warrington Guardian newspaper = 5 votes

The following Wednesday evening we will announce the winner of that category on social media.

Usual Newsquest competition rules apply.
