A POPULAR Italian restaurant and pizzeria in Penketh is offering children's meals for just £1 this summer.

Delgados, which is a family-run pizzeria based off Honiton Square, is offering the deal until the beginning of September.

The offer has been running since Friday, July 21, and will continue throughout August until Saturday, September 2.

Posting about the offer on social media, Delgados said: "Kids eat for £1 every Wednesday and Thursday."

The restaurant opened its doors in Penketh in 2001, with head chef and owner Andrew Stafford taking over operations in 2021.

Speaking to the Warrington Guardian in September 2022, he explained that the restaurant is aware that times are tough for a lot of people: "When I first took over, I dropped £1 off most of the food items, where I could.

"Only 18 months later did I add that pound back on - so our prices haven't gone up at all since I took over, really."

He added: "

Even though the restaurant isn't open on a Monday and Tuesday, I'm in the kitchen ordering and prepping food all day.

"Then on days we're open, I'm in the restaurant from the early hours of the morning until around 11pm.

"We aren't open on Sundays, and I refuse to do that because that's the only time in the week I can spend good time with my wife and children."

The Penketh restauranteur added: "All I want is to leave something behind for my kids.

"That's my purpose."

To qualify for the new £1 children's meals, diners must eat in at the restaurant on a Wednesday or Thursday.

A child must also be accompanied by an adult who purchases a meal, which will entitle them to claim one child's meal for just £1.

Delgados is on Honiton Lane, Penketh, and is open Wednesday-Saturday from 5pm until 11pm.
