LYMM Festival is back for an 11-day extravaganza to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The festival - which is the 25th to be held, according to the organiser - will kick off on Thursday, June 22 and will conclude on Sunday, July 2.

Showcasing the very best of what Lymm has to offer, there promises to be something for everyone.

From the iconic Lymm Transport Day to food tasting, wine sampling, and the ever-fun scarecrow trail, it would be a challenge to look at the festival's itinerary and not find something that tickles your fancy.

The events will be hosted across 17 different venues in the village, from the Village Hall to the Heritage Centre, as well as local clubs such as the rugby and cricket clubs.

Chair of the Lymm Festival committee, Ian Marks, said: "The first Lymm Festival took place in 1999.

"Since then, it has become an annual highlight for many local people and visitors with a wide variety of events to appeal to all ages and interests.

"It is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and supporters who give their time to create an exciting programme over the eleven-day period to ensure that everyone has a memorable and positive festival experience.

Speaking about the significance of this year's festival, Ian said: "This year is the 25th festival and we are delighted to present a programme filled with old favourites and brand-new events to delight our community.

"As usual, the first event is the foodfest which takes place on Thursday, June 22.

"The village comes alive with stalls from local restaurants and street traders together with street entertainment and gets everyone in the mood for what is to come."

Ian added: "I would like to thank all our sponsors and volunteers who make it possible to put on the festival and help make it a key event in Lymm’s calendar.

"I would also like to give special thanks to David Smith, who has worked tirelessly with me for many years to make the festival such a success, and who has stepped down this year from his role as deputy chair."
