THE headliners of this year's Warrington Music Festival say returning to the town will be like a 'homecoming'.

Winachi will be the headline attraction at the free one-day event which returns to Golden Square next Saturday, June 3.

Liam, Croker, from Latchford, is lead singer and frontman of the band who have been one of Warrington's best known acts for more than a decade.

He says he can't wait to be back in Warrington and explained why the festival is so important for up and coming talent.

He added: "It's always a buzz to play your hometown, this is where we started our career and the Warrington Music Festival was a great catalyst in building our profile locally when were starting off.

"Naturally as you progress you spread your wings and start playing nationally and internationally so coming back to play Warrington is always a pleasure, it's like a homecoming.

"I think it's really important for young bands who are starting off to get the chance to play the festival, it gives them an opportunity to experience performing on a big stage and to generate some press."

The band have travelled extensively to the States in recent years and spend a lot of time recording in Los Angeles, a place Liam calls their 'spiritual home'.

"We've done some pretty high profile stuff out there like filming a video for our single 'A Room With A Zoo' in Malibu with Hollywood actor Tommy Flanagan (Sons Of Anarchy, Peaky Blinders), supporting The Charlatans at the 'Teragram Ballroom', living and working with producer Danny Saber (Black Grape, The Charlatans) up in Laurel Canyon," he explained.

"Most recently we recorded our upcoming debut album at 'Earthstar Creation Center' on Venice Beach with producer John X (David Bowie, Rolling Stones) which was an amazing experience.

"We filmed the video for the first single from the album 'Heaven In Hell.A' last year in Los Angeles,

"It's just a mad trip, it's been like our musical spiritual home, some people love the place, some people hate it, we happen to love it."

The band have also picked up a number of industry awards, including at the ISSA awards in Atlanta.

He said: "Atlanta was amazing in the sense that we won 'Best Intentional Band' and headlined the '2022 ISSA Awards' for the 'International Singer Songwriter Association'. "It was a huge honour to headline such a prestigious event in America and be recognised for our work and contribution as songwriters and musicians. It really made me realise how far we'd come from our humble roots, never give up kids,"

Now the band have an exciting - and unusual new venture, stepping into the world of trainers.

They have signed a deal with Pantofola in Italy to coincide with the release of new singled For You I'd Kill.

He added: "The trainers are part of an exciting music/fashion collaboration with iconic Italian brand 'Pantfola d'Oro'.

"Pantofola have been endorsing Winachi since 2018 and we've done some amazing work together.

"I'd just like to take the chance to thank Pantofola d'Oro owner Kim Williams for all his love and support over the years for Winachi, we think of Kim as family, he's like the seventh member of the band.
