A DOUBLE victory for a nursery group in Warrington who received two outstanding reports from education watchdogs last month.

The Cheshire Nursery Group had Ofsted inspections at both their Guardian Street and Winwick sites and were given the highest possible grading for both.

Located at a former church on Hollins Drive, the Winwick setting was praised for being ‘wholly inclusive’ and providing a ‘bespoke’ curriculum.

The official report said: “Children thrive in this wholly inclusive setting where their unique needs are warmly celebrated.

“All children demonstrate exceptionally positive attitudes to learning and are deeply engaged in activities of their choosing.

“A bespoke and unique curriculum has been skilfully constructed to reflect children's individual needs.

“Children display a real passion and thirst for learning.”

Staff at the nursery were celebrated for their approach in teaching, with the report saying: “Staff effortlessly offer challenge, differentiation, and an abundance of opportunities for children to recall previous learning and build on what they already know.

Nursery manager at the setting for eight years, Rachael Richards said: “I could not do my job without the dedication, passion and support that the team here at Winwick provide each and every day. Running the nursery takes a full team effort.

“I would like to say a special thanks to Lesley Davies, our area manager, who provides a wealth of experience, knowledge and support. Lesley pushes for us to be the very best we can be.

“We are not outstanding just for one day. We are outstanding every day and I could not be more proud.”

Meanwhile an official report reflecting the visit to the Guardian Street setting began: “Children's unmistakeable sense of security enables them to take the ups and downs of a busy nursery day in their stride.

“Children feel safe because staff present routines and activities in a consistent and positive way. They make excellent progress because staff know that every detail of the environment and their teaching is important.”

The nursery gave the feel of a ‘big family’ with inspectors describing it as ‘harmonious’ both with children and staff.

“Staff know that they and their ideas are valued. This helps them to feel happy and positive in their roles. The nursery is a caring, harmonious workplace. This immerses children in an atmosphere of mutual respect and tolerance that they learn to emulate. Staff say that the team 'feels like a big family'.”

Manager at the setting since 2020, Kim French said: “I started with The Cheshire Day Nursery group in 2012, I worked my way up to the position of manager in 2020.

“As a nursery, throughout covid and throughout the recent takeover we have gone from strength to strength and I am immensely proud of my team.

“Since I have taken over as manager, we have overhauled our nursery, with new flooring new resources and a whole new approach to learning and development for the children. Creating an exciting home from home environment in which the children are clearly thriving.

“I would also like to give a special thanks to our area manager, Lesley Davies, who continues to support us with our professional development and supporting the team throughout. I would also like to thank our parents who have been immensely supportive with the recent environment changes and continued to allow our Cheshire Day Nursery family grow.”

Khilna Shah, head of Early Years Standards, Regulation and Compliance said: “Bright Stars Nursery Group are extremely proud of the achievements of Guardian Street and Winwick. The report is a testimony of the hard work and dedication that our management team and staff team consistently put in to support the children.”
