CHESHIRE Constabulary has confirmed that a body was found in Padgate on Monday morning, May 1.

The body was found following a search undertaken by Cheshire Police, after being alerted to the presence of a missing person by Merseyside Police.

According to a statement from a Cheshire Police spokesperson, the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Residents on social media referenced the incident as having taken place near Bennett's Recreation Ground, off Blackbrook Avenue which is near Padgate Train Station.

One resident reported a large emergency service presence at the site on Monday morning, which is when the Cheshire Police search was underway.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary released the following statement: "At around 7am on Monday, May 1, Cheshire Police were contacted by colleagues at Merseyside Police, who asked officers to search an area in Padgate as part of a search for a missing man.

“The man was sadly located dead in the area.

“His death is not believed to be suspicious and a case file will be prepared for the coroner.”
