A VIOLENT and abusive thug from Latchford beat and smeared dog faeces in the face of a woman before ‘kidnapping’ her in a prolonged and traumatic assault.

Daniel Little, of Henshall Avenue, had just been released from custody when he appeared at the victim’s home and began punching her in the head and body in an angry rage.

The defendant appeared before Liverpool Crown Court via video link yesterday, Thursday, after pleading guilty to counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and false imprisonment.

Prosecuting, Arthur Gibson said the incident occurred in the early hours of December 4.

Little began shouting in a rage at the woman, who was ‘scared and intimidated’, before grabbing her by the throat and throwing her against a kitchen unit.

He then began punching her in the head and body continually and shouting ‘you think you can take the p**s out of me’.

The defendant told her she was ‘going to pay’, with the court hearing how the victim ‘was so frightened she wet herself’ and felt as though ‘she was fighting for her life’.

Little squirted bodywash in her face and eyes, as well as smearing dog faeces into her face and hair as she screamed.

After assaulting her again, punching her in the head, the defendant ordered a taxi and forced the victim into the car in her nightwear.

When they arrived at the destination, Little exited the car first, and that is when his victim decided to take action, shutting the car door and pleading with the driver to drive away.

The taxi took the victim to Warrington Police Station where she reported the incident.

In total, the assault took place over a five-hour period.

Mr Gibson said she was taken to Warrington Hospital to be examined over bruising over her left eye, reduced hearing in her left ear, a 10cm bruise over her shoulder to elbow, a 5cm bruise over her chest, bruising over her chest bone and others along her arms, as well as swelling to her head and scalp.

Officers arrested the defendant shortly after and brought him to the station to be interviewed.

When asked what triggered the assault, the defendant told officers the victim had ‘started a fight’ and he ‘simply retaliated’.

The victim bravely appeared at the hearing to witness the sentencing of Little and stood up to read her own impact statement to the court.

She said: “Psychologically this has affected me. I cannot sleep properly.

“I feel like I cannot talk to anyone but my family. I feel vulnerable as a result.

“When I close my eyes, I can see his face from that night. I used to love being on my own but now I cannot do that.”

In mitigation, the court heard how Little is ‘deeply ashamed’ of his behaviour.

His barrister said: “He accepts that he needs to be in prison. He knows he must be punished.”

The offender has a lengthy record of 17 previous convictions for 34 offences, including for violence.

Concluding, recorder Michael Blakey described the attack as a ‘prolonged and persistent assault’.

“There is serious psychological harm. You humiliated that lady,” he said.

Little was sentenced to three years and seven month in prison, of which he will serve half of before being released on licence.
