A NURSING home has been visited by inspectors who were told by relatives that it has a 'pleasant atmosphere'.

Gainsborough House Nursing Home, off Gainsborough Road, has recently been inspected by the Care Quality Commission.

The CQC found that the nursing home was befitting of a 'good' ranking and was 'well led', though it must improve upon the safety at the home.

According to the report published by the commission, the nursing home was inspected on Thursday, March 23.

At the time of inspection, the home had 68 residents, and 'people were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests.'

Gainsborough House was consistently rated 'good' in categories, though was branded as 'requires improvement' in terms of safety.

Recommendations included in the CQC report included the process of administering medication.

The leadership of the service was graded as 'good' at the latest inspection, which is an improvement on its last inspection.

The report read: "At our last inspection we rated this key question of requires improvement.

"At this inspection, the rating has changed to good. This meant the service was consistently managed and well-led.

"Leaders - and the culture they created - promoted high-quality, person-centred care."

One of the residents' relatives told the CQC: "The atmosphere is pleasant and calm. I would recommend this home because [person] is so well looked after and it is wonderful."

Another added: "There is a general pleasant atmosphere, and the staff are fantastic.

"I would recommend this home to anyone the staff are so kind and caring."
