ADMITTEDLY, I have never watched The Bodyguard.

But when I heard it was coming to Manchester, with a soundtrack like that, I couldn’t resist.

The award-winning musical, based on the Warner Bros. film, follows the story of a former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, who is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker.

Each expects to be in charge – what they don't expect is to fall in love.

The Pussycat Dolls popstar Melody Thornton takes on the role of Whitney Houston which are extremely hard shoes to fill. But she puts on a stunning performance and even moved a lot of the audience to tears with a dramatic rendition of I Will Always Love You to end the show.

Warrington Guardian:

Thornton is joined by former Hollyoaks star Ayden Callaghan who takes on the role of Frank Farmer and definitely doesn’t struggle to engage the audience, keeping them laughing – and whooping – throughout.

Other stars of the show include Emily-Mae who plays Rachel’s sister Nicki Marron and the extremely talented Kaylenn Aires Fonseca as Rachel’s son Fletcher. He may only be young but he certainly knows how to put on a stellar performance.

The show is full of smash hits including How Will I Know, I’m Every Women and I Wanna Dance with Somebody. And although there were plenty of slower and more emotional songs, it didn’t stop the audience from singing and dancing along to an electric finale.

Jam-packed with smash hits, a dazzling cast, and an impressive set – The Bodyguard The Musical is well worth a watch.

You can catch it Palace Theatre Manchester until April 15 with tickets starting from £22.50.
