CHESHIRE Police are currently reviewing the status of an unauthorised traveller encampment in Birchwood.

The unauthorised site has been in place for a number of weeks, having been granted temporary permission to stay.

According to Cheshire West and Chester county council, the site is made up of seven caravans.

Residents first reported the unauthorised site, off Ordnance Avenue, on Wednesday, October 26.

The site has since been supplied with temporary toilet facilities by the council, following the temporary permission to remain on the site.

However, reports to Cheshire Police were made following vehicles from the site travelling on public pathways.

Residents reported that some travellers from the site were driving their vehicles across public pathways in Birchwood Forest Park.

One even took to social media to claim that he was almost run over by vehicles from the unauthorised site when he was in the park walking his dog.

According to the county council's website, the group has been instructed not to use the public footpaths, and Cheshire Police are currently reviewing the situation following complaints from residents about vehicles driving on footpaths.
