CHILDREN in Need's 'Rickshaw Relay' passed through Warrington this morning, Tuesday.

This is the 12th time the relay has taken place, and it is being led once again by Countryfile's Matt Baker.

There are five locations where the relay will be taking place, including Warrington, Sunderland, Birmingham, and Aberystwyth.

At each location, Matt will be joined by a young person who has benefited from Children in Need.

Quinlan Dunne lost his brother, River Reeves, when the band Viola Beach died in Sweden in 2016 - he was helped through this time by Child Bereavement UK, which is funded by BBC Children in Need.

Quinlan joined Matt on Tuesday, October 18, on the 38-mile journey from Warrington to Wrexham.

The pair began the journey outside the Parr Hall, opposite Viola Beach's commemorative plaque.

Ahead of the relay, Quinlan said: "Child Bereavement UK helped support me through one of the toughest moments in my life when I lost my brother, and that support was invaluable.

"I’m taking part in this challenge to give back and help other young people who are going through a tough time to get back on their feet.”

Speaking to the Warrington Guardian on Tuesday morning, Matt said: "Quinlan is going to absolutely smash it, and all of these young riders have all benefited from Children in Need in the past.

"Quinlan has benefited from a child bereavement fund, and he's brilliant, and I can't wait to speak to him.

"See you on the road!"

Lots of people turned out to wish the cyclists luck as they set off on their journey, and there was even an appearance by Pudsey the bear, too.

There were camera crews from BBC Breakfast, as well as a team from Children in Need creating the 'Rickshaw Relay' documentary that will air during the Children in Need television event in November.

An interactive tracker has been set up online so that well-wishers can keep up to date with the whereabouts of the rickshaw, and how far the riders have travelled so far.

The interactive tracker and map can be found here.

Children in Need's television event will take place on Friday, November 18, where everyone will be able to watch Matt and Quinlan tackle the 'Rickshaw Relay.'
