A RESIDENTIAL complex in Padgate is going above and beyond to raise funds for additional support to provide to its residents.

Harpers Green, on Harpers Road, is fundraising to buy new equipment that will help residents in the event of a fall.

If a resident has fallen, staff are obliged to call 999 for an ambulance - even if the person is not injured.

In some cases, a resident might not be injured, but they are just unable to get themselves up after falling.

Now, the complex is raising funds to buy equipment that will help with this.

A 'mangar lifting cushion' is a piece of equipment that will help to lift someone off the ground if they have experienced a fall.

This piece of kit will provide vital support for the residents, but it does not come cheap.

Staff say they are hoping to raise £2,500 to buy the equipment, which will provide much-needed support for residents.

The staff hope that the new equipment will ease the burden on residential staff and the residents themselves, especially with ambulance waiting times on the rise.

Fundraising activities that the complex is undertaking include a Christmas fair, which is taking place on Saturday, December 10.
