A BUSINESS based on Birchwood Park has donated £1,000 to a children's charity that is based in Nantwich.

David Wilson Homes is a leading name in housing developments and has pledged the money to the Wingate Special Children's Trust.

The donation from the Birchwood-based developer will go towards cleaning the space at the front of the facility, removing and clearing the weeds, and purchasing new furniture for a memorial space.

The Wingate Special Children's Trust has been based in Nantwich since it was established more than 30 years ago, in 1988.

Jenny Monro, Fundraiser at the trust, said: “We are the only facility in Cheshire to offer these activities for vulnerable disabled young people and adults.

"Our professional, qualified sports coaches are trained to a very high level and thoroughly understand the diverse needs of those who access our services.

"We endeavour to improve the physical health and mental well-being of disabled children and young adults to reduce inequality and isolation that is experienced by many on a daily basis."

Jenny added: "We do this, by providing specialist respites holidays and recreational activities for the and their carers.

“Any donations make a huge difference to the charity. We all rely on the support of the local community, through their fundraising efforts and volunteering at the centre.

"Volunteering creates a feel-good factor for those that take part and the local events really help create a community spirit, which The Wingate Centre is heavily part of.”
