One person shared the memories of her mother - Laura Andrus said: "My mum is still there. She's been there since they were built and has every intention of leaving feet first in a wooden overcoat when her time comes.

"I remember my dad putting a lawn in the back garden when it was all just stones.

"Lifelong friendships made on that estate!"

Another, Les Weaver, said that his family was one of the first in the area: "We were one of the first families to move into Longbarn, on Mullion Grove.

"I remember playing in that barn and all the houses while under construction, no health and safety back then!"

This satellite image shows how much the area has developed in the nearly 50 years since the original photograph was taken.

"Wonderful childhood memories there."

Cath Christie raised her daughters in the area - she said: "We moved into Anderson Close in 1974 my twin girls were one year old, and they're 49 now - wow, how time flies!"

Brian Walton is a longtime resident of the area, he added: "First one to move into Oxmead Close in 1974 and still there!

"Love it here."
