PLANNING permission has been granted for a new telecommunications mast to be constructed in Croft.

The new phone mast is planned to be 25 metres high, with six antennas.

Plans were submitted by Cornerstone Telecommunications - which is a joint venture between Vodafone and Telefonica.

The new mast will be built off Spring Lane, Croft.

Permission was first sought in August this year, before being granted last week.

The exact location on Warrington Borough Council's planning portal for the mast is Spring Lane Nurseries, WA3 7AS - which is in the planning ward of Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft.

Planning documents suggest that the new mast will help to bring 5G data connectivity to the area.

Developers say that this mast is being constructed to replace the outdated mast that was on Millhouse Lane, Croft.

In letters written to local councillors, parishioners, and the MP, the developers explain that a number of alternative sites were considered, but discounted, as those sites would have allowed the mast to become an eyesore.
