JODIE Foster stars as the brave one' in this Death Wish rip off in the traditional Charles Bronson role.
When her fiancee is murdered and she is left for dead by a gang of thugs, the radio presenter by day finds herself stalking the streets of the Big Apple by night, wasting would-be muggers, rapists and other low life parasites.
Hot on her heels is marvellous Terrence Howard, as the symapthetic cop who is reluctant to face the truth about his new friend.
It's a poignant film in parts and utterly unbelievable in others.
Given that the revenge/vigilante drama has been done to death theres little more scope for development.
That said, it's an enjoyable movie, and it's always great to see the villans get wasted, especially by a very angry woman with a grudge to bear and a signigficant chip on her shoulder.
An unexpected ending makes for a satisfying, if pretty unoriginal, take on the revenge is sweet' genre.
