THELWALL Morris Dancers have issued a desperate plea for new recruits, as the team enters its 50th year.

The team was created in 1973, and they have warned that 2023 may be its final year unless the group gets some new members.

Morris dancing is a traditional English practice, and it dates back as far as 1448.

The group in Thelwall is worried that its 50th anniversary will also mark the end of the team.

Traditionally, the group has performed at local festivals like the Thelwall Rose Queen event, which took place earlier this summer.

The group practices on Wednesday evenings at 8:45pm at Thelwall Parish Hall - before heading to the Pickering Arms afterwards.

New recruits to the group don't need to have any experience whatsoever, and the group are keen to take in 'any new members'.

This year alone, the group has taken part in at least seven events, including Croft Carnival, and the Jubilee 'Party in the Park' event.

The group's very first outing was at the Pickering Arms in 1974, so they've been regular patrons of the pub for nearly 50 years, too.

If anyone wants to take part in the team, you can get more information by emailing the group - info@thelwallmorris.org.uk - or you can just turn up to one of the sessions.
