A COMMUNITY centre in Bewsey may be turned into a community shop and kitchen if planning permission is granted to the project.

Bewsey Community Park Centre, on Troutbeck Avenue, is the subject of a planning application to turn the combined bowling club and offices into a community shop and kitchen.

The plans to turn the centre into a community kitchen usually involve residents coming together to create healthy, affordable meals on a regular basis.

Currently, the centre has two function rooms that are suitable for 'almost any activity,' according to Warrington Borough Council's website - the large room can seat up to 20 people.

The application has been put in by Company Shop Ltd., a company that has been around for nearly 50 years.

The company aims to take surplus products (which otherwise would have gone to waste) from well-known brands, and sell them at affordable prices.

This allows the company to help 'stretched budgets go further.'

The company's promise is: "To earn the trust and loyalty of all our stakeholders by ensuring our shared endeavours are always in the best interest of people and planet whilst respecting commercial success."
