IT'S back.

Villagers in Lymm were sent quackers last year when the annual duck race was cancelled.

But the charity spectacular is back on this Easter - with a slight twist.

Last year's event was cancelled because of health and safety worries at the last minute but Lymm and District Round Table has confirmed this year's will take place.

The race will however be concentrated on the Dingle and the village centre and tickets will now be sold there rather than on the A56.

And organisers are encouraging visitors to forsake the usual starting point at the upper dam and congregate in the village centre, to help with the safety.

A spokesman said: "The event will be held wholly in the Dingle and the village centre thus avoiding the need for anyone to cross the busy A56."

Activities throughout the day include hook-a-duck, a balloon race, tea cup rides, a funhouse and various stalls.

Starting at noon on March 24, Easter Monday, ducks cost £1 and larger corporate ducks for businesses are £100.

Tickets will go on sale from 10.30am on that Monday morning and at The Cross on the two Saturday mornings before the race.

Anyone wanting to donate prizes or sponsor a duck should call Rik Wilson on 751683.

The event raises money for charities including the Children's Adventure Farm Trust, NSPCC, St Rocco's and Riding for the Disabled.
