GRAPPENHALL Cricket Club first XI have taken over at the top of the table thanks to their 11th league win in a row.

They leapt above Cheadle in Cheshire County League Division One after toppling Marple, who were bowled out for just 125 in 40 overs.

Ed Barnes and Arran McCabe both picked up four wickets in an excellent bowling performance. Grappers knocked off the runs with relative ease, winning with 30 overs to spare for the loss of five wickets.

Grant Hodnett finished with 48 not out.

The seconds lost by 64 runs at home to Stockport Georgians.

The visitors posted 230-4, a tough afternoon at the office for a young seconds bowling attack.

Left arm spinner Lloyd Milligan was the pick of the bowling with 3-39 off 10 overs.

The seconds looked like giving it a good go, despite losing three early wickets as Alex Perry (77) and Graeme Rowlands (40) put on a stand of over 100 but the tail struggled against a good Stockport side as Grappers were all out for 166.

On Sunday the thirds won a cracker at Heaton Mersey, winning by one run.

With a young side, Grappers posted a below-par total of 130, all out in their last over.

James Knowles top scored with 28.

Heaton Mersey looked on course to win the game with early runs, but the excellent spin bowling of Fameesh Azeez and Lloyd Milligan, with three wickets apiece, turned the game in Grappers' favour.

Matt Hardman also picked up three wickets, taking the final wicket of the game as the hosts needed just two runs to win.
