POPULAR markets are set to descend upon Great Sankey this Saturday.

The Artisan Markets, organised between Independent Street events and Great Sankey Parish Council, are due to be open from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, near The Woodlands Pub.

The markets have already made appearances in Birchwood and will feature around 70 different independent stalls.

It's set to be an event for the whole family, with live music from local artists, as well as traders selling everything from homemade gins, local pies, vegan deli deals, jewellery, crafts, and even hanging baskets.

Lisa Cowley, from Independent Street Events, said: "Whether it's some awesome food, a cheeky tipple, award-winning food produce, art, craft, design or summer plants that rock your boat, we have it all!"

The markets are free to peruse, and the entire event is dog-friendly; there will even be stalls selling treats for your furry friends, too.

Lisa added: "It's a really hard time for small businesses, with many closing their doors.

"We're going all out this month."
