A NEW American dark kitchen has opened in Warrington – and we thought it would be rude to not put it to the taste test.

Crunchh is a dark kitchen where orders can be enjoyed at the neighbouring Blu Bar or via delivery or collection.

And given other American options across town such as Café at the End of the Universe and Brothers Burgers, there are high expectations to live up to.

Taking a seat in the adjoined Blu Bar, it is a smart bar in the heart of Bewsey that – as it is accessed from the back of the Villagio Hotel – perhaps isn’t as renowned as it should be.

With many options from burgers, steaks, sizzlers, subs and wraps – I asked the chef for his recommendation on what to try.

He proposed a Philly cheese steak sub – to which I swiftly agreed to try.

Out came a large crispy ciabatta sprinked with garlic and filled with steak pieces and melted cheese inside. It came with some well-seasoned fries too.

Initially, I was cautious as I’m not the biggest fan of melted cheese on a sandwich but it only added to the flavour and was proportioned well.

The spices from the peppers and onion tickled the back of your throat too nicely.

We also put the sweet side of the menu to the test that has options such as waffles cakes and milkshakes.

After opting for a Kinder Bueno inspired-version of the latter, it was the perfect way to finish.

If you fancy some food to wash down your drinks – or a takeaway at home – Crunchh is a solid option to try and adds to the array of palatable options for a taste of America in Warrington.
