A VITAL £3,000-a-month grant for a town centre homeless shelter has been extended until October 31.

The funding, which Warrington Borough Council provides to Room at the Inn (RATI), on Winmarleigh Street, has been under review.

But, despite the boost for the site, uncertainty continues to surround the long-term future of the funding.

A council spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that the grant to RATI has been extended until October 31.

"We are committed to combating homelessness and supporting those who are affected by it with appropriate services.

"We will continue to support RATI's 'Y project' via the provision of a grant, as well as engaging in ongoing work to support the identification and implementation of improvements that are needed in order to meet the requirements of the grant."

The shelter says it costs £400 per day to deliver its services.
