A GOOD Samaritan was left with a broken jaw after he tried to defuse a fight on Battersby Lane in Orford.

The man was walking underneath the railway bridge on June 24 at 3am when he came across a dispute between a group of between six to eight men.

He attempted to intervene but the men, who all looked in their late 40s and were smartly dressed in suits, turned on him.

The man, who was repeatedly kicked and punched by the group, was left with a broken jaw.

The attack was not reported at the time of the offence.

DC John Parr said: “This man was acting as a Good Samaritan. He approached the group of men to defuse a fight and ended up being seriously assaulted.

“We are determined to catch those responsible for this unprovoked assault and bring them to justice.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed it or believes they may know who the offenders are.

“I urge anyone with any information that may help us with our investigation, no matter how small, to get in touch."
