A TEAM of volunteers from Sellafield Ltd’s Birchwood offices took on the challenge to transform a school.
More than 80 people from the company and its supply chain partners helped with some much-needed renovation work at Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School in Latchford.
The team, more used to delivering complex nuclear projects for the Sellafield site in Cumbria, carried out a number of transformational activities within the school’s outdoor space.
The space is used for science and horticulture work.
Pauline Deans, Community Liaison Officer at Sellafield Ltd, explained: “We have a long history of supporting our local communities and this year’s challenge needed people with gardening, painting and joinery skills.
“The challenge will benefit one of our local schools, providing them with refurbished facilities for their students, teachers and volunteers. It will also help our employees to develop leadership, team working and observation skills and puts into practice the principles of social responsibility.”
