A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 21-year-old.

At 2.50am today, Saturday, officers were called to a property on Wilderspool Causeway and found a man with serious injuries.  

An ambulance attended the scene and the man was taken to Warrington Hospital where he died a short time later. 

DI Adam Waller, of Cheshire Police’s Major Investigation Team, said: “At this stage the incident appears to be isolated and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of what took place.

“A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and will be assisting officers with their investigation.

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed what happened, saw anything suspicious or unusual,  or has any information which could assist officers with their enquiries, to contact us on 101.”



A formal identification of the man has not yet taken place. 

Witnesses have reported forensic vans at the scene this morning and a police cordon has been put in place near the junction with Fletcher Street.

Traffic is still able to travel down Wilderspool Causeway in both directions.

Officers remain in the area to provide reassurance to the community and anyone with any issues or concerns is urged to speak to an officer.
