AN Orford grandmother-to-be will feature on this weekend's episode of Take Me Out: Over 50s Special.

Penny Hart impressed ITV bosses in the auditions and was invited down to Kent to film the live show with host Paddy McGuinness.

The 59-year-old has been single for a while and her only daughter saw the online application advert and decided it would be fun for her mum to try.

Penny said: "I was unsure at first and there were lots of forms to fill out. But I thought I should just go for it. I was invited to auditions in Manchester last August and then we filmed the episode in November."

The grandma-to-be was excited to travel down south and meet Paddy in real life.

Warrington Guardian:

Will Penny get a date?

The host was friendly with all the ladies and Penny gushed about his good looks.

She said: "The ages ranged from 50 up to around 70, from all walks of life. Some had been single for a long time or had lost their husbands – I met some fascinating women.

"They were all fabulous and there was no feeling of competition."

Penny, who was born in Zimbabwe and moved to Warrington 17 years ago, rides a motorbike and loves to paint.

After suffering from cancer, Penny turned to art to help her get through the tough times.

She said: "It helped me get up in mornings."

Penny loves to paint in her spare time

Speaking about her ideal man, Penny said: "I've always preferred a slightly younger man perhaps because I'm slightly younger at heart.

"Definitely a beard, I used to like men with longer hair but unfortunately its got to the stage where there's no hair but that's also ok.

"I would just like somebody who is kind, loving and considerate – and ideally he likes to garden."

The over 50s special follows the same format as the regular Take Me Out show with the ladies switching off their lights if they're not interested in the bachelor.

For those wondering whether they're too old to feature on dating programmes, Penny said: "There is a chance in a million that we find the perfect man but you just have to put yourself out there."

The women are greeted by three men hoping to impress the panel enough for a date on the Isle of Fernando's.

Penny added: "Two of the men weren't really my type but one definitely was."

But that's all Penny could reveal before the show is broadcasted this weekend.

To see if Penny bags herself a date on the Isle of Fernando's, tune in to ITV1 at 8pm on Saturday.
