RAIL passengers are still facing repeated cancellations more than a week after a new timetable brought the service to its knees.

Northern cancelled three trains to Manchester from Warrington before 9am today, Friday.

It follows chaos for passengers trying to get trains back to Warrington from Manchester during rush hour on Thursday.

Other services run by East Midlands trains are running as normal but are reported to be extremely busy as a result.

Northern says there is currently 'major disruption' on its new service to Manchester Airport.

And minor disruption on its Liverpool to Manchester route through Warrington.

The 7.38am, 7.53am and 8.46am have all been cancelled.

Warrington Guardian:

A new timetable was brought in on May 20 and has resulted in regular cancellations to services.

Northern has again apologised for the problems on the route and is vowing to improve the situation.

A spokesman said: "We are again extremely sorry to all passengers affected by recent disruption, and are setting out how we’re going to improve the service for our customers as quickly as possible."
