PUPILS from Stockton Heath Primary School have been working with the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation to write and perform a song for the team.

Singer and songwriter Dan Solan and Mike Pilat, from The Vaults Studios in Woolston, wrote and produced the piece 'We're the Wolves' that the choir, on West Avenue, then learned.

It features lyrics such as 'We'll sing for swings and waterslides' which is a tribute to Warrington band Viola Beach. The four members and their manager Craig Tarry who died in Sweden in 2016.

"Dan wanted the song to bring the people of Warrington together," said teacher and music coordinator Cate Baker.

"The line seemed fitting for such a talented group of young people who lost their lives in a tragic accident and the choir love the song.

"They have been very excited about the performance opportunities."

The youngsters debuted the song at the school summer fair on May 18, followed by a special performance at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Thursday in front of the Wolves players.

It was also performed alongside a live band at the Parr Hall that evening, as part of the Accent Music Festival which saw primary schools from across Warrington take part.

Speaking after their performance on Thursday, Cate who has been working with the choir since last year, said: "Being from Stockton Heath, we are big Warrington Wolves fans so we wanted to do something special for them and the foundation have always been so supportive of our school.

"I've learnt from the pupils as well as them learning from me.

"We've been learning as we go along and it's an experience we will never forget."

Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation works to deliver life changing opportunities through sport, education, health and the arts in the community and schools on behalf of the Wolves.

The choir are now preparing to showcase 'We're the Wolves' at the team's match against Catalans Dragons on Thursday, July 12.
