FIVE care homes run by the same company have been ordered to improve by the health watchdog.

U&I Care Limited’s Field View, Oak View, Charlotte House and Burton House - care homes for adults with learning difficulties and autism - have all be told to improve by the Care Quality Commission following unannounced inspections in January.

Meanwhile, U&I Care Limited’s base on Archers Green Road in Kingswood - home to three residents - has also been rated as requiring improvement.

Water temperatures at Field View and Oak View - neighbouring properties on Hood Lane North in Hood Manor - were ‘above safe levels’ and posed a risk of scalding to residents.

Temperatures of up to 67 degrees were recorded, while checks for waterborne bacteria had also not been carried out.

Further concerns in the other three homes were raised around staff training, recruitment processes and residents not being able to access medical care quickly.

U&I Care Limited has not responded to a request for comment.
