NUCLEAR giant Sellafield has marked Mental Health Awareness Week by changing the colour of its Warrington offices.

The Hinton House offices, based in Birchwood, have been lit up green in support of the week-long campaign, which focuses on tackling depression, anxiety and stress, from May 14 to 20.

Alex Walsh, head of Sellafield Ltd's Warrington offices, said: "We're one of a number of buildings around the north west who have lit up green as part of Mental Health Awareness Week and the launch of the This Is Me campaign.

"It's to show everyone there's a green light to talk.

"Mental health is a priority area for us this year. It's important to remove the stigma around mental health because people need to talk.

"A long time before people exhibit signs of mental illness, their mental health can impact on their personal wellbeing, their families and their performance at work. It is important that people discuss and identify issues at an early stage. Talking about it helps."

Warrington is the traditional home of Sellafield Ltd's design capability, with more than 1,500 staff and thousands more working for its supply chain in Birchwood.

Alex was one of a group of Sellafield Ltd staff who attended the launch of the This Is Me campaign in Manchester on Monday, where he chaired a discussion group on the day.

The organisation is among a number of employers supporting the campaign including Barclays, United Utilities and Manchester Airports Group.
