FORMER England international footballer Joey Barton has been fined for speeding in Winwick.
The ex-Manchester City, Newcastle United, Rangers and Marseille midfielder was caught exceeding the temporary 50mph restriction in his Mercedes car on the stretch of motorway between junction 22 of the M6 and junction nine of the M62 on Friday, September, 1 last year.
On Thursday, May 3, the 35-year-old was ordered to pay a total of £225 in fines, court costs and victim surcharges at Warrington Magistrates Court and had three points imposed on his driving license after admitting the offence.
Barton, of Widnes, was not present in court.
Recently appointed as manager of Fleetwood Town, he is currently banned from football for betting offences – a ban that will expire next month.
