How did you first become interested in photography?

As a child, I bought my first camera with pocket money I saved up.

What do you like to photograph the most?

Landscapes and animals

Tell us about the picture you’re most proud of?

I never think my pictures are good enough, each time I take one which I think may be good, I then try to take a better one so there is always one superceded by another. I do have some favourites though.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

From my surroundings and my homeland of South Wales. With the advent of Facebook and other medium, the opportunities to see other people's work is limitless, and this does give me inspiration. Sometimes it encourages me to get out and take photos. You can make a good image from any scene if you try.

How do you educate yourself to take better photos?

By attending an evening class, then taking it a bit further and doing exams, years ago. I think that I have continually learned about photography all these years later. One thing I think is important though, and that is you don’t need a top of the range camera to take a good picture. Some people can see a good image regardless of what they are shooting with, whether it’s a cameraphone or a DSLR, and I think the snobbery behind camera ownership is preventing people getting out there and taking and showing their photos, if they don’t possess a top of the range camera. The only thing that matters is creating the images.

What would be your dream photography shoot?

I love travelling and combining photography. I also love landscapes all over the world, and yes, elephants on the Serengeti would be a fantastic photoshoot.
