POLICE have issued a warning to residents after concerns were raised over rogue traders operating in Lymm.

Officers have received reports of alleged fraudsters offering services for roof cleaning.

A force spokesman said: "Please follow this guidance if anybody comes to your address.

"If you haven't already considered getting any work done don't be pressured into agreeing to anything.

"Use a company that you know and trust and make sure the company has a landline and a physical address – you can ring the number and visit the address to verify this.

"Get written quotes so that you know the cost of everything before you agree to have any work done and get written quotes from a few tradesmen.

"Don't agree to pay the tradesmen cash and don't pay up front. Wait until the work is complete and you are happy with your work.

"Don't make any quick decisions. If you are unsure, take some time to think about it. Some rogue tradesmen are very pressuring and persuasive.

"Always check that warranties and guarantees are valid."
