POLICE have detained a suspect who had been at large for more than a month after a man was left with serious injuries following an attack.
Officers were called to reports a man had been assaulted by two men and his bicycle had been stolen at Sankey Valley Park on March 19 at 3.45pm.
The 30-year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries but he has since been discharged.
Two men from Warrington were arrested in relation to the incident.
A 20-year-old man was detained on suspicion of assault and theft on April 24.
He has since been released pending further investigation.
A second suspect, 19, was arrested on April 12.
Lee Ashton, of Statham Avenue, has subsequently been charged with wounding with intent, assault by beating and theft of a bicycle in relation to the incident.
He has also been charged with burglary (other than a dwelling) in connection with the theft of two bicycles on Gerrard Avenue on March 18.
Ashton has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on May 11.
This incident is not linked to an incident in January where a man was left fighting for his life after he was attacked by a gang of youths in Sankey Valley Park.
