THE mum of Tim Parry who was killed in the Warrington bombing hopes the town will unite in memory of her son and Johnathan Ball 25 years on.

Wendy Parry along with Kate Deakin, from The Tim Parry and Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, were interviewed by Warrington Guardian editor Hayley Smith ahead of the 25th anniversary of the IRA attack in the town centre.

"25 years ago everyone was very supportive of us and it would be nice if that's what happened again 25 years on," said Wendy.

"When we talk about the 25th anniversary people can't believe it was 25 years ago."

School and businesses are invited to dress in the colours of the foundation – green, white and blue – to remember the two young boys whose lives were tragically cut short a quarter of a century ago on March 20, 1993.

The Warrington Guardian has united with the foundation to call on the people of the town to pay tribute to 12-year-old Tim and three-year-old Johnathan with a dress-down day.

The awareness day on March 20 will help to fund the work of the foundation so the team can support more victims of terrorism and communities living in conflict.

Wendy added: "We decided to do something around 12 months ago.

"On March 20 there will be a service in the town to commemorate the 25th anniversary but we also wanted to do something that everyone else can do.

"Whether it is companies or schools, they can get involved and it will be their way of remembering Tim and Johnathan and what happened on that day."

Those who take part are asked to make a minimum £1 donation to the foundation.

Kate added: "The great thing about the Colours for Peace Day is that it is going to bring together businesses and schools in Warrington and people from the surrounding area who can remember where they were on the day.

"It's a way of remembering Tim and Johnathan and raising awareness of what we do and how important the charity is."
