WOLVES’ players are not swallowing talk of Wigan counterparts heading into tonight’s derby at The Halliwell Jones Stadium in a jet-lagged state.

Warriors returned from almost three weeks in Australia on Monday, having defeated Hull FC in Wollongong for Super League points on February 10 before bowing to South Sydney Rabbitohs in a friendly at the weekend.

Questions have also been raised about any impact on Shaun Wane’s men switching back to wet and cold conditions after the dry and heat Down Under.

Fit-again Wolves prop Dom Crosby, who won the Grand Final with Wigan in 2016, said: “I’m not buying into any of that.

“I don’t think it will affect them at all. They’ll be fresh and ready to go.

“They’ve probably been looking at this game for a couple of weeks and earmarking it as a big game to set the tone.”

“We’re looking forward to it and won’t be focusing on anything but ourselves and improving week on week.”

Fellow Wiganer and Wire skipper Chris Hill added: “We’ll think about ourselves and just do our job.

“They’ll recover well. I know they’ve had a flight but their head of strength and conditioning is very clued up and knows his stuff, as does ‘Waney’. They’ll be ready, they’ll be very prepared.”
