PLANNING permission has been submitted for the construction of a 74-bed dementia care home by Manchester Road in Rixton.

The site is located on green belt land, next to Chapel Lane, and is surrounded by farmland and residential properties on one side.

Trustees of Horizon Cleaning Services Pension Fund hope to build the 74-bed property, with plans showing facilities such as a cinema, car parking and a beauty lounge.

Rixton village stands 950 metres away from the proposed plans.

Drawings show the western section of the site is occupied by a two-storey building with adjoining single storey workshop space.

The L-shaped building will have two storeys facing Manchester Road and rises to two-and-a-half storeys as the building turns.

An entrance block connects the two main accommodation blocks, consisting of a single storey.

This single storey will be rendered in dark grey cladding and the roofs are finished in slate, to ‘tie in with the neighbouring residential development’.

Planning documents state that it is ‘important to maintain the site's green characteristics through landscaping’ and this aims to be accomplished by using a large private garden and multiple landscaped areas around the perimeter of the site.
