NETWORK Warrington has won a contract to operate shuttle buses at the town's Neighbourhood Weekender festival this spring.

The bus company will be operating services for festival-goers, to and from the site over the weekend of May 26 to 27.

Services will run from Warrington Bank Quay and Warrington Central train stations directly to Victoria Park - with return services in place.

Ben Wakerley, managing director of Network Warrington, explained the importance of winning the contract, saying: “Every penny we make is reinvested back into Warrington. Put simply, the more people use our buses, the more we can invest in our fleet, routes, services and fares.

“We take contracts where we can, another recent example being the contract win to operate a service to Wigan during evenings and Sundays, to help bring in more income to support our existing routes in and around Warrington.

“We’re committed to operating as many services as we can to connect our communities. We do our best to ensure residents aren’t isolated and whilst we can’t cover every inch of Warrington’s highways, winning contracts is one way in which we can continue providing as many of our services as possible.

“The festival is great news for the town and we are delighted to be partners in its delivery.”

The Warrington Guardian previously reported that The Courteeners and Noel Gallagher will be headlining the festival in Latchford - in front of around 25,000 revellers.

The weekend event will be the biggest festival in the town since V Festival in 1996.

Network Warrington services will operate across the weekend from 11.30am-4.30pm from the train stations, returning back from the festival at 8.30pm-11pm.
