A MAN has been arrested in connection with a hammer attack at a pub car park in Fearnhead on Saturday night.

Cheshire Police were called to the car park of the Farmers Arms on Fearnhead Lane shortly before 9pm on Saturday, February 17, following reports of a disturbance.

An attacker allegedly used a hammer during the incident, in which a woman and a man were assaulted.

As he drove away from the scene, the man collided with two people outside the pub - which was hosting a charity night - and damaged other vehicles.

Police patrols stopped a suspicious vehicle on the M56 westbound near to junction 10 at Stretton in the early hours of this morning, Monday, and have arrested the driver in connection with the incident at the Farmers Arms.

The 30-year-old, from Warrington, was arrested on suspicion of four counts of assault, four counts of criminal damage, drug driving and driving while disqualified.

He remains in custody, with enquiries ongoing.
