A CURRY chef from Warrington has returned from a trip after successfully showcasing his food in Sri Lanka.

Chef Syeduz Zaman Kamran, from the Ozmi Indian Cuisine on Winwick Road, was a member of ‘super curry chef team’ which went to the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo to showcase the best of British curry at the Taste of Britain Curry Festival.

This master chef delegation was led by Michelin starred chef Rupert Rowley who has worked in many Michelin starred restaurants, including Gordon Ramsey’s world-famous Chelsea eaterie in London.

Chef Rupert, who is from Derbyshire laid on a feast of favourite traditional English dishes, while his curry chef colleagues cooked popular British curry dishes at the food festival in Colombo for locals to sample.

Award-winning chef Kamran, said: “I have cooked in various competitions but cooking British curry in Colombo, Sri Lanka was a real challenge.

"We gave our diners the best of British high street favourites curry dishes such as Chicken Tikka Massala, Jalfrezi and Balti dishes."

The team have won fans all over the city, who delight in coming together to taste British food.

Lord Karan Bilimoria, founder and chairman of Cobra beer, praised the efforts of British curry chefs for transforming the British curry business into a multi-billion-pound industry.
