A GP surgery has been rated as good by the healthcare regulator, a year after it had been ordered to improve.

Stretton Medical Centre on Hatton Lane had been ordered to improve by the Care Quality Commission following an inspection in July last year, which found gaps in staff training and facilities for disabled patients.

The doctor’s practice was subjected to an announced re-inspection in October, with the CQC subsequently rating the surgery as good.

Inspectors found that improvements had been made to reduce risks to patient safety while systems for recording significant events as well as action subsequently taken had been bolstered.

Patients told the CQC that they were ‘treated with dignity and respect’ while staff said they ‘felt well supported to meet the roles and responsibilities of their work’.
