ENJOY a singalong on Christmas Eve at the Carols by Candlelight service in Westbrook.

A group of parents from St Philip Westbrook CE Primary are determined to bring the community together while raising money for the school to help fund equipment for the pupils.

The free event is open to anyone in the community but singers are encouraged to make a donation towards the primary school on Westbrook Centre.

The singalong is set to start at 5pm on the school playing field after the Christingle service, which begins at 4pm, at St Philip’s Church in Westbrook.

Mum-of-two Charlotte Welborn is part of the group of parents who have been working together to organise the festive meet-up.

The 37-year-old, from Callands, said: “Everyone is so busy in their own little worlds so we wanted to do something that would bring everyone together.

“It is also to help people who don’t have families and may be lonely at this time of year.

“It doesn’t have to cost anything but we would appreciate a small donation.

“It is about coming together in a traditional celebration.”

A number of businesses have also donated mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies, which will be handed out on a first-come first-serve basis.

Any leftover food will be donated to the foodbank and the Salvation Army.
